2023 Calendars

When I get an idea, I usually scribble things down on the nearest pad of paper, diary, or sometimes the closest receipt! Really, whatever I can get my hands on at the time to capture it before it escapes my mind. I do tend to have a pretty bad memory so I find even a quick sketch helps remind me of a composition or a new concept. I then sit on that idea for days, weeks and if I’m being really honest - sometimes years. A calendar has been one of those long term ideas that I have dreamt about and wanted to create but have struggling with how to execute it and its production. It wasn’t until recently that I started working with a fabulous graphic designer who has helped bring this vision to life. Michelle from Zest Creative Co helped me rebrand my business and website last year. She has been wonderful in understanding what my art and brand is about. So I knew once I had all the info and details that she would be able to put it all together.

After the birth of my son, I think it was when he was three weeks old, I started collating images that I thought would work together as a collective. The theme for this calendar is ‘Travel’. This may come as no surprise to some people as it is a reoccurring theme in my work! The calendar features 12 of my original etchings as well as a travel inspired quote for each month. Each page features plenty of room to write birthdays and events and even has a section for writing notes. I really wanted this calendar to be functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. The pages are also 200gsm satin finish so it is really easy to write on and the covers have been laminated slightly thicker to give it a really beautiful finish.

These calendars were printed with a local company here in Brisbane. It was my first time printing with them but they have been exceptional. Although there were a few delays with their machines to begin with and it took a little longer than expected, it really was worth the wait. I am so proud of the design and the quality of the product. I am also incredibly proud that they are designed and made in Australia and supporting small and local businesses. Please note that the quality of this product is reflected in the price.

We travel for romance, we travel for architecture, and we travel to be lost.

Here is the front of the calendar. I chose this etching called ‘Pizzeria in Bologna’ because it reminded me of when I travelled with my husband Tim to Bologna in Italy. It feels like a long time ago now, but we had the most incredibly time eating out way through the city. Did you know that bolognese first originated for Bologna?!

Each calendar page has the monthly dates, section for notes and a quote inspired by travel.

This is the back of the calendar so that you can see roughly the designs for each month. There are a couple months which were difficult to capture because they are portrait size.

These limited edition calendars are inspired by my love for travel, curiosity and adventures. I hope that they inspire you as much as they have me!
